Q1. |
What
kind of software will bundled with CBFW1U/CBFW3U/PCIFW1U/PCIFW3U
? |
|
A1.
CBFW1U/CBFW3U/PCIFW1U/PCIFW3U retail box includes following software.
SONYDVCR.SYS
(NTSC/PAL)
- DVCAM device driver for Windows98.
Note : |
1. |
This driver comes with CBFW1U or PCIFW1U. |
2. |
This driver is required only for Windows98.
Microsoft DVCAM driver (MSDV.sys) is already included
in Windows98SE, WindowsMe or Windows2000. |
RSDVcap.exe
This application software has following functions.
- Preview video/sound data
from DVCAM.
Preview video data from CCD camera.
Capture video/sound data from DVCAM.
Capture video data from CCD camera.
Playback video file.
Export video file to DVCAM.
*** This software uses Microsoft standard DV-AVI2 format
video file.
-
RSDVStill.exe
Application software for capturing still image.
- Capture still image from DVCAM.
Capture 30 images and select best one.
Capture to BMP format image file.
-
CompressAVI.exe
Utility software for video file format conversion.
- Convert Microsoft DV-AVI2 format video file to another
format video file bi-directionally. As current existent
video editing software don't support MS DV-AVI2 format
video file, you have to convert the format of video file
which is captured by RSDVCap before editing. And after
editing, if you would like to export it to DVCAM, you
have to re- convert video file to MS DV-AVI2 format video
file. Please note, file conversion will take a long time,
sometimes over a hour.
-
Ulead
VideoStudio4.0
- The software treats MS DV-AVI2 format video file directly,
you can capture and export DV files from/to DVCAM directly.
Also, the bundled version includes MPEG2 software encoder
and decoder and allows making MPEG2 Video file from DV
Video file.

Q2. |
Compatibility with Video Editing software. |
|
A2.
All of RATOC IEEE1394 interface for Windows ( CBFW1U/CBFW3U/
PCIFW1U/PCIFW3U) are fully compatible with Microsoft standard IEEE1394 OHCI drivers
and DirectX Media libraries. So if your Video Editing software works on DirectX
Media 6.0 or later, you can capture DV file directly, edit it and export it to
DVCAM directly. We have already tested following Video Editing softwares. But
please note, these softwares requires Windows98SE, WindowsMe or Windows2000 because
Windows98 does not support some DirectX runtime libraries.
- Adobe Prmire 6.0
- Adobe Premire 5.1C( RATOC Plug-in driver required. Note 1.)
- Ulead MediaStudio 6.0
- Ulead Video Studio 4.0/5.0
- MGI VideoWaveIII/IV
- Sonic Foundry VegasVideo
- Sonic Foundry Video Factory
- Digital Origin EditDV 2.0
- Digital Origin introDV
Note 1. RATOC plug-in driver for Premire5.1C
As Premire5.1C does not support DirectX Media 6.0 or later, it cann't import/export
DV file and control DVCAM directly. Our plug-in driver provides DV file importing
function, converting to the editable file format from the DV file, re-converting
to DV file from the edited file, exporting function and DV control function to
Premire5.1C. After installing the plug-in drivers, you can capture, edit and export
DV files seamlessly with Premire5.1C. To learn more about Plug-in
Driver, click here.

Q3. |
I
can not export DV files to DVCAM with CBFW1/CBFW2/CBFW3. |
|
A3.
Did you installed our specified driver CBRPSET? If not, please install it and
try again. On some laptops, IEEE1394 CardBus PC Card can not export DV video file
to DVCAM properly with default CardBus bridge chip setting. This restriction is
caused by CardBus Bridge chip and BIOS setting of the laptop computer. As some
CardBus Bridge chip does not support memory read cycle burst data transfer with
default BIOS setting, a lot of video frames may drop at exporting to DVCAM. The
CBRPSET is a setup utility driver to improve this data transfer capability. The
latest version supports following CardBus bridge chips, improves the data transfer
capability and enables burst transfer mode. Please refer following notes.
You can check your CardBus bridge chip at Device Manager window. Open Device Manager
window and double click "PCMCIA socket" i-con. Read out CardBus Bridge
chip name and refer follows.
The latest version of CBRPSET supports following CardBus controllers.

Q4. |
Does
CBFW1/CBFW3U/PCIFW1/PCIFW3U work on Windows95, WindowsNT4.0
? |
|
A4.
No, CBFW1U/CBFW3U/PCIFW1U/PCIFW3U requires true 32bit WDM driver. As both
Windows95 and WindowsNT4.0 do not include the driver, our products do not work
on neither Windows95 nor WindowNT4.0. Also we don't have a plan
to develop the driver for these OS. |
|
|
Q5. |
Will
CBFW1/PCIFW1 work with Windows2000 ? |
|
A5.
Yes, CBFW1/PCIFW1 works fine. Windows2000 includes all of the required
drivers for CBFW1/PCIFW1, DVCAM driver, SBP2 driver and IEEE1394 Mass storage
drivers. You can use IEEE1394 storage devices, such as HDD, Removable Disk, CD-RW
drive, Digital Still cameras, and DVCAM. |
