The following explain are for Windows system only. About Mac OS X, please see README in Macintosh side. Microsoft officially starts supporting USB2.0 driver for Windows XP/2000. In order for Windows XP users to use the Microsoft USB2.0 driver, install Service Pack1 on Windows XP. In order for Windows 2000 users to use the Microsoft USB2.0 driver, download the Microsoft USB2.0 driver with "Windows Update". For Windows Me/98SE users, Microsoft has not yet announced USB2.0 driver. Our originally developed USB2.0 driver supports Windows XP/2000/Me/98SE. If you have difficulty obtaining the Service Pack1 for Windows XP, you may use our original USB2.0 driver. If you don't have the Internet available on your Windows 2000 PC, you may use our original USB2.0 driver. Please read this Readme file carefully before using the products and understand the restrictions. The updated driver will be available through our web site whenever some issues are fixed. See to README_ENG.TXT on CBU2-MS DRIVER folder. The following was updated from Rev 1.7 to Rev 1.8. (1)Fixed issue that WindowsMe does not shutdown with OLYMPUS USB2.0 MO. The following was updated from Rev 1.6 to Rev 1.7. (1)Support to use dual CBU2 Card and setting with PCIU2 board. (2)Support being able to use with other manufactures of USB2.0 interface card. The following was updated from Rev 1.5 to Rev 1.6. (1)Improve transrate speed by 110%. (2)Fixed hang up caused by wrong serial-NO USB2.0 Devices on Windows XP/2000. (3)Support VAIO PCG-MXS2(Windows XP). The following was updated from Rev 1.4 to Rev 1.5. (1)Support CanonScanner CanoScan D1250U2/D1250U2F. The following was updated from Rev 1.3 to Rev 1.4. Officially support USB2.0 HUB device. (1)Supports USB2.0(HS) devices connected to a USB2.0 HUB. (Isochronous data transfer is not supported yet.) (2)Supports USB1.0(FS) devices connected to a USB2.0 HUB. This version supports Split data transfer. With this Split data transfer, HS devices performance maintain even if HS and FS devices are connected to a USB2.0 HUB simultaneously. (3)Supports USB2.0 HUB cascade connection. (4)CBU2 PNP Utility is updated to version 1.0. With this version, the utility will unload when the CBU2 is removed. The following was updated from Rev 1.2 to Rev 1.3. (1)The following bug issue is fixed. When you suspend SONY VAIO PCG-QR1S, the screen image disappears. But, the suspend fails and you can't resume the system. (2)CBU2 PNP Utility is updated to version 0.22. With this version, the new revision of USB controller can be treated. The following was updated from Rev 1.1/1.0 to Rev 1.2. With this version 1.2, you can remove the CBU2 from your computer. -If you use Windows 98SE/Me, you can remove the CBU2 from your computer by clicking the CBU2 icon on the tasktray. -If you use Windows 2000, you can remove the CBU2 from your computer by clicking the removable icon on the tasktray. Refer to the chapter 5.How to remove the CBU2. [4] How to update the old driver of CBU2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have already installed the old driver and try to update the old driver, follow the instructions to update the driver: 4-1.Windows 98SE (1)Right-click on My Computer, select Properties, and then select the Device Manager tab. (2)Double-click on the [Universal Serial Bus Controllers]. (3)Show the properties on [RATOC CB USB Enhanced Host Controller]. (4)Click the [Driver] tab and click the [Update Driver] button. [Update Device Driver Wizard] will appear. Click [Next]. (5)Select the [Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want] option and click [Next]. (6)Click [Have Disk]. (7)If you have the installation CD-ROM, put the CD in the CD drive and specify the location. ( ex. D:€ if the CD drive's letter is D. ) If you have the downloaded data, specify the location of the data. You can use "Browse..." button to specify the location. (8)Select [RATOC CB USB Enhanced Host Controller] and click [Next]. (9)Click [Next]. (10)Driver files will be copied. Click [Finish]. (11)Restart your computer after you finished installing the driver. 4-2.Windows Me (1)Right-click on My Computer, select Properties, and then select the Device Manager tab. (2)Double-click on the [Universal Serial Bus Controllers]. (3)Show the properties on [RATOC CB USB Enhanced Host Controller]. (4)Click the [Driver] tab and click the [Update Driver] button. [Update Device Driver Wizard] will appear. Click [Next]. (5)Select the [Specify the location of the driver(Advanced)] option. Then, click [Next]. (6)Select the [Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want] option and click [Next]. (7)Click [Have Disk]. (8)If you have the installation CD-ROM, put the CD in the CD drive and specify the location. ( ex. D:€ if the CD drive's letter is D. ) If you have the downloaded data, specify the location of the data. You can use "Browse..." button to specify the location. (9)Select [RATOC CB USB Enhanced Host Controller] and click [Next]. (10)Click [Next]. (11)The updated driver will be copied. Click [Finish]. (12)Restart your computer after you finished installing the driver. 4-3.Windows XP/2000 If you have Internet connection, you can update Microsoft Driver at Start Menu Windows Update. If you don't have Internet connection, you can update RATOC Driver follow step. (1)Insert the floppy disk containing the updated drivers. Right-click on My Computer, select Properties, and then select the hardware tab. Then, click the Device Manager button. Double-click on the [Universal Serial Bus Controllers]. (2)Show the properties on [RATOC CB USB Enhanced Host Controller]. (3)Click the [Driver] tab and click the [Update Driver] button. [Update Device Driver Wizard] will appear. Click [Next]. (4)Select the [Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver] option. Click [Next]. (5)Click [Have Disk]. (6)If you have the installation CD-ROM, put the CD in the CD drive and specify the location. ( ex. D:€ if the CD drive's letter is D. ) If you have the downloaded data, specify the location of the data. You can use "Browse..." button to specify the location. (7)Select [RATOC CB USB Enhanced Host Controller] and click [Next]. (8)Click [Next]. (9)The updated driver will be copied. Click [Finish]. (10)Restart your computer after you finished installing the driver. [5] How to remove the CBU2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you remove the CBU2, be sure to follow the steps: If you ignore these steps, the system freeze may happen. (NOTE) The old version of CBU2 PNP Utility 'CBU2PnP.EXE' (Version 0.21 or earlier) can't treat the new revision(02 or later) of USB controller. Be sure to use the CBU2 PNP Utility 'CBU2PnP.EXE' included in this disk. 5-1.Windows Me/98SE (1)CBU2 icon will appear in the tasktray when you insert the CBU2. When you point at the icon, [CBU2-Device PnP Uty for WinMe/9x] appears. (2)When you click this icon, "Stop RATOC CB USB Enhanced Host Controller" will appear. Select it. (3)"The RATOC CB USB Enhanced Host Controller device can now be safely removed from the system." will appear (4)Click [OK]. You can remove the CBU2. (NOTE) If you remove the CBU2 by clicking PC Card icon on Windows 98, system freeze may happen. If you remove the CBU2 by clicking hardware removable icon on Windows Me, system freeze may happen. 5-2.Windows XP/2000 (1)Removable icon will appear in the tasktray when you insert the CBU2. (2)When you click this icon, "Stop RATOC CB USB Enhanced Host Controller" will appear. Select it. (3)"The RATOC CB USB Enhanced Host Controller device can now be safely removed from the system." will appear. (4)Click [OK]. You can remove the CBU2. [6] The known issues on the CBU2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The USB2.0 EHCI driver has some known issues as follows. -Windows XP The following laptop PC may freeze when starting up with the CBU2 connected USB Devices. To use USB Devices, it must be inserted after the OS started. SONY VAIO PCG-C1MRX -Windows 2000 The Read/Write performance of USB2.0 Srotage device may be poor with the following laptop PCs. Toshiba Satellite 2210, SONY VAIO PCG-Z505CR/PCG-XR7Z/PCG-FX90 -Windows Me (1)The system may freeze when the CBU2 is inserted after the following laptop PC started. To use CBU2, it must be inserted before the OS starts up. COMPAQ Presario1700 (2)The following laptop PC may freeze when starting up with the CBU2 inserted in the PC Card socket. To use CBU2, it must be inserted after the OS started. SONY VAIO PCG-XR1Z (3)The following laptop PC may freeze during the installation of USB2.0 driver. But, you can install the driver by updating it on the "Device Manager" after the PC is restarted. Toshiba DynaBook DB60C/2CC (4)The system restarting is required after the installation of the driver into the following laptop PC.
