Q How to arrange the IRQ resource? - *16Bit Legacy PC Card needs to be assigned a specific IRQ resource to work.
CardBus PC Card can be used without assigning specific IRQ resource for each one.
Windows 2000/XP
[How to cherck the IRQ resource]- Right click "My Computer" icon and select "Properties".
- Click "Device Manager" button on "Hardware" Tub.
- Select "View Resources by Type" from "View" menu.
*Check the available IRQ number. At least one IRQ resource needs to be available.
To make an IRQ resource free, disable a device which is not in use.
- Select "View Devices by type" from "View" menu, on "Device Manager".
- Double click the device you want to disable.
- Select "Do not use this device (Disable)" from pull down menu under "Device usage:" and click "OK" button.
- Right click "My Computer" icon and select "Properties".
- Click "Device Manager" button on "Hardware" Tub.
- Double click "Computer" to open property window.
- Check the "Interrupt request (IRQ)".
Make sure is there an available IRQ number.
*Check the available IRQ number. At least one IRQ resource needs to be available. To make an IRQ resource free, disable a device which is not in use.
- Double click the device you want to disable on "Device Manager".
- Check the box of "Disable in this hardware profile".
The setting of BIOS depends on each PC. Regarding how to change resources, refer to the user's manual of your PC. - Q The CBS52U installation fails with "Code12" error on Windows XP/2000.
- The CBS52U does not work with some PCs on Windows 2000 and XP. The installation of the CBS52U will fail with "Code12"error. ("Code12" indicates that insufficient resources are available.)
- We confirmed that the trouble occurs on PCs which has nForce2 or nForce3 Chipset.
- We have received some reports that the same trouble occurs on following PCs from customers.

- Q What driver bundled with the CBS52U?
- The IRQ routing driver and software for 16bit PC card (for Windows 98SE/Me/2000) is bundled with the CBS52U.
*Windows XP includes IRQ routing driver software. The contoroller chip on the CBS52U is supported by Windows XP. - Q What types of PC card can work with the CBS52U?
- Type I/Type II/Type III PC card.
*You can use one Type III PC Card or two Type I/ II PC cards at the same time.
16bit Legacy PC card/CardBus PC card. - Q Can I boot up from a storage device through the CBS52U?
- No. BIOS does not support to boot up from a storage device through the CBS52U.
- Q Media cannot be ejected, when I login the system as an interactive user. (Windows 2000 and XP)
- You need to change "Security settings".
Follow the instructions below to change the security settings.- Login the system as the administrator.
- Press "Start" key and click "control panel".
- Double click "Administrator tools".
- Double click "Local Security Policy".
- Select "Security Options" under the "Local Policy" strings in the left column.
- Double click the "Devices: Allowed to format and eject removable media" in the right column. A popup window will appear.
- Select "Administrators and Interactive Users" from pull down menu and click "OK" button.
